The Cape Chamber's Healthcare Portfolio Committee is privileged to announce Professor Nomafrench Mbombo, Western Cape Minister of Health who will be addressing members of this Portfolio.


MEC Mbombo will explain Cape Town's state of Healthcare in the Western Cape on the subject of COVID-19.


Professor Nomafrench Mbombo hails from Mdantsane township in East London, Eastern Cape. Before entering into politics, she was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences, University of the Western Cape.


She holds a Ph.D. in the area of Gender and Human Rights (UWC), Masters in Maternal & Child Health (UKZN), and a Bachelors in Nursing Science (UFH). She previously worked in provincial and local government health departments in the Eastern Cape and KZN respectively. Before her appointment to the role of Western Cape Minister of Health.


The Minister will share information on:

  • Western Cape Ministry of Health's strategies in saving lives and livelihoods
  • The importance of all role-players in the province to take the pandemic seriously
  • The readiness of the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out in the Western Cape
