Key Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Trends and Expectations to watch for in 2022
Investors, regulators, and the broader public are exercising greater scrutiny of corporate sustainability efforts resulting in corporate boards and government leaders facing rising pressure to demonstrate that they are adequately equipped to understand and oversee ESG issues โ from climate change to human rights to social unrest.
Against this backdrop, it is important that corporates have a coherent ESG strategy, are familiar with the key drivers of sustainability, can demonstrate clear positive impact to communities and the environment, and capitalise on the opportunities that ESG presents.
This webinar is for anyone interested in the key ESG trends in 2022 and beyond.
Ravi Moodley, a career Strategist and Director of multiple companies across various sectors will provide insight into some of the key trends driving change in the world today and the potential impact to the South African business landscape.
Currently the Executive Head of Strategic Management and Governance at National Parliament, with over 20 years experience in the banking sector in South Africa, Ravi's multiple industry and cross-functional exposure grants him unique context and insight into the vague, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) business landscape in South Africa.
Ravi's core skills lie in the domains of Strategy and Business Planning, Change Management and Business Transformation, Innovation, Risk Management, Project and Programme Management, Business Intelligence and Market Research with a proven ability to navigate complex business environments with multiple stakeholders. He has a track record of success in turnaround, step-change in business performance, and transformation in both the Private and Public Sectors. In essence, he future-proofs businesses by creating and directing a strategic roadmap of structured change.
Ravi holds a BSc Honours degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Natal as well as an EDP from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. He is firmly of the view that Strategic Management is both an art and a science.
Ravi will be joined by Najen Naidoo, MD of konektd and the CityZen Foundation. He is a social entrepreneur with a background in Investment and Corporate Finance, as well as Technology and Mathematics, which has seen him working across multiple continents and countries designing businesses across multiple industries such as banking, retail and supply chains to improve their profitability by using technology to support their people in their operations.
Passionate about social change, Najen and the CityZen team have been working tirelessly to launch a movement in South Africa to create Smart Communities where we help to co-create smart and thriving communities that are eco-friendly, functional, clean and crime-free; where connected residents and businesses collaborate to create an economically flourishing and safe society for future generations.
Communities have lost faith in Government and Big Businesses' ability to deliver on the services that are desperately needed, and as a result we are seeing an increasing trend in Community Based Organisations (CBO) and Public Benefit Organisations (PBO) tackling the challenges facing our country. There are over 100 000 registered PBOs in South Africa and approximately 50 000 unregistered organisations doing work within our various communities. Smart Communities will work with the passionate people running these organisations to bring about sustainable and positive change to our country.
