The Fourth Industrial Revolution is disrupting almost every industry in every country , and the breadth and depth of these changes herald the transformation of entire systems of production, management, and governance.
The Cape Chamber's Human Resources Portfolio Committee is honoured to host Professor Tshilidzi Marwala.
Professor Marwala is an accomplished scholar with multidisciplinary research interests that include the theory and application of artificial intelligence to engineering, computer science, finance, social science and medicine. He has an extensive track record in human capacity development and has published 23 books on artificial intelligence. Professor Marwala is the Vice-chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg and before that he was the Deputy Vice-chancellor for Research and Internationalisation and Executive Dean of Engineering and the Built Environment, both at the University of Johannesburg. He is the Chair of the Africa Health Research Institute, a member of the Namibian 4IR Task Team and trustee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Alongside Professor Marwala we will have a panelist, Mr Percy Fick, who will also share insights on this very intriguing topic.
Percy is an optimistic leadership professional, with more than 25 years of management and automotive experience. A passionate customer and associate engagement advocate who is focused on people management, development, and engagement through people strengths optimisation. His personal business acumen is to drive and deliver results through team building, agile scrum management, performance optimisation, productivity focus, and problem solving though Kaizen mindset. Percy promotes and demands team work to deliver customer service and engagement. He is a seasoned professional in retail management, OEM (manufacturer) and distributor functions in the automotive field with a logistics background. Percy's ethos is to keep things simple, practical and within the speed to deliver business goals, high business strategy, excellent business development and planning, policy and procedure adherence and the hiring, coaching and development of people based on their strengths. He is passionate about people, change management, teams and delivering great customer service that leads to customer loyalty and retention.
Professor Marwala's keynote presentation will provide insights into the still very relevant topics below:
