An overview of the South African economy: In search of green shoots

The news and market sentiment regarding South Africa's economic outlook seems to be mostly negative. Against this background the aim of this talk is to determine if it is all doom and gloom or whether some positive aspects can be identified. Items that will be looked at include relevant global developments, while domestic topics such as growth, demographics, inflation, and state finances will be discussed. Some provincial statistics can also be highlighted. The overarching research question is what needs to be done to ignite South Africa's economic growth potential.
