Dawie has over 30 years' experience in Economics and his principal areas of specialty are in monetary and fiscal policy economics. He also has interests in international and local politics and is highly knowledgeable in politics. Dawie Roodt graduated with a master's degree (cum laude) in economics and he has worked as an economist for the South African Reserve Bank. He has also been an economic editor at a financial magazine.

Dawie Roodt is esteemed for his wide knowledge of the South African economy, his sharp analytical character as well as his effective communication skills. This has seen him regularly featuring in television discussions, broadcasts on radio stations, and comments in the printed and electronic media.
