According to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, as many as 70%-80% of South Africans do not have a will in place. Many people have the misconception that their assets will pass automatically to their intended beneficiaries, but this is not always the case.

A Will allows you to leave clear instructions on how your assets will be disposed of & who will inherit from you. More importantly, it alleviates the stress on your family at the time when they are undergoing emotional trauma.

Speaker Profile - Rehana Cassiem.

Rehana is a CFP® professional with a passion for estate planning. She has been a member of the FPI for the last 15 years and has been in the fiduciary services industry for 18 years. She started her working career as a candidate attorney but moved into the fiduciary services industry as a trust officer with BOE/Old Mutual Trust back in 2002, where she spent three years before joining Old Mutual as a legal advisor in 2005. At Old Mutual, she exclusively worked in a broker distribution business unit and obtained her post-graduate

diploma in tax law and advance post-grad diploma in financial planning. She advised independent brokers and broker consultants in her capacity as a senior legal adviser. Rehana then joined Absa Trust in 2012 as a fiduciary specialist, where she was exclusively part of the private bank team, assisting the financial advisers and the private bankers with their clients.
